Swim Bike
In planning for the Sprint Tri, I was thinking my swim and run would take about a half hour each. I was hoping I'd be able to make up time on the bike. All of those illusions came crashing down today. I jumped in the pool and swam a half mile in about 20 minutes. I attempted a reasonably fast transition to the bike to see if there would be any hiccups on race day. uh yeah.
Observations - It's tough to put a Jersey on when you're wet.
- I don't need to buy tri shorts. I felt fine riding in my swim suit.
- I was glad I practiced that tri thing where the shoes are clipped into the bike and you slip your feet in as you ride.
- I'm fat. I think I've gained some serious weight during this kitchen remodel.
- I'm slow. I need to do more short speed work on the bike.
Race distance on the bike was about 40 or 50 minutes. The course I picked was about 2 miles longer than it needed to be. I think I can fix that.
