Lake Fairfax Bike Ride
So, I've been telling the kids for a couple days now that we were going to ride to Lake Fairfax. This morning, when Q found out it was definite, she started complaining about her knee hurting. I sent RJ upstairs to get dressed. He came down in shorts and a blue dress shirt. My kids will try anything to get out of stuff they don't want to do.
We got started a little late, we traveled down the bike path out to Dranesville Road and the whining started. "Daddy my knee hurts" "Daddy I'm tired" "Daddy can mom come pick us up?" "Daddy my legs are burning" I ended up pushing them uphill for short sections. Forty minutes into the ride Q announced she needed to go potty right away. ARGH!
The whining stopped when got to Lake Fairfax. We made our way over to the dirt trail that leads into Reston, but the kids spent a lot of time walking up and down the hills. We stopped every 15 minutes for fluid and food. RJ didn't want to eat. We stopped at 7-11 in Reston because Q was out of water. They decided they wanted to stop at BK and DQ for lunch and ice cream. ARGH! Four and a half hours. I'm guessing it's about 12 miles.
