Fresenius vs. Davita
While in New Jersey for Thanksgiving, I dialyzed at my second Fresenius clinic. I wish I had the opportunity to dialyze with Fresenius down here. First of all, at the Fresenius clinic, there's plenty of space between chairs, enough space, that they have those hospital curtains that can give a bit of privacy if needed. Each station has a very large TV that has a touch screen. You can get TV, the internet, Music, games, and patient education.
Davita on the other hand has us packed so close together that my chair overlaps my machine on one side and the next patients machine on the other side. We have smaller TVs. Most of the TVs output audio in a mono format. When I came back in center, there was a message scrolling across the screen that said the cable company was switching to new digital equipment and be prepared for the switch or else lose channels. Well, weeks later, we've lost half the channels to snow.
I'm betting it's only a matter of time before some patient goes postal. My money is on a woman who talks constantly on her cell phone very loudly...about so and so's boyfriend who has firearms, but doesn't have a gun permit due to...um...shall we say time spent under the care and supervision of the state. The other day she stood up and said in not so polite terms that her dialysis session was over.
